Coast Physiotherapy Limited 24 Dillwyn Road, Sketty, Swansea, SA2 9AE : 01792 207482 : info@coastphysio.co.uk
A physiotherapy consultation will involve two stages. Firstly you will be asked a series of questions regarding your problem. Typical questions are: Where do you get pain? What makes your pain worse? When your pain is worse is there anything you can do to reduce it? What part of the day is it worst/best? You will be asked questions about any similar problems you may have had in the past. You may be asked questions about your general health which may need to be taken into consideration, eg heart conditions, diabetes etc. Following the series of questions will be a physical examination. This will, typically, involve you being asked to perform a series of movements to see which movements are painful or restricted. The physiotherapist will also perform some other specific tests to determine the origin of the problem. You may be asked to remove some clothing to expose the area where you get your pain so suitable clothing is appropriate e.g. shorts for a leg or back problem, thin strapped top for shoulder or neck problem. You will be given an explanation for your problem and have any questions answered. After these two stages the physiotherapist will do some treatment. You will be given some exercises to help you continue to treat the problem yourself. This is a typical example of what occurs in a physiotherapy consultation. If you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to contact us.
